To date I have 26 published articles, 14 of them in a Wall Street Newsletter and numerous PR articles written for a consulting firm I once belong too. And all of these are noted on my linkedin account. Yet when recruiters see this, they inform me that I am overqualified for any position I seek (and after 3 years of unemployment I am seeking the bottom positions). Maybe getting published is great, but for this old man it has caused challenges I have not overcome as all I wish for is to be employed and not working on my ranch.

Gary, that was a very useful article even if one is not in search of a job. The advises you give here are very practical and most of them may sound obvious but in my experience, marketing ourselves as a Finance professionals is a skill that unfortunatelly very few of us can say they have. So you are giving a lot of help !

Dear Gary,
I have recently become unemployed and found your article to be uplifting, encouraging and useful.
Thanks much!
