Summary
With the economy showing signs of recovery, companies are likely to redirect their focus from survival to long-term strategic planning for growth. Yet many organizations are at risk of failing to achieve the goals of their strategic plans. Why? A lack of alignment between finance and IT teams may prevent companies from streamlining processes and gathering information to enable them to plan effectively.
According to a Fall 2009 survey of senior finance and IT executives—conducted by CFO Research Services and IDG Research Services in collaboration with Oracle—executives identify a need to improve the quality of information used to formulate and execute strategic plans. But finance and IT executives disagree about the role IT should play in strategic planning. IT executives say they should play a greater role, but finance executives tend to disagree—despite the perceived need to streamline strategic planning processes and improve the quality of information available.
During this webcast, Sam Knox, vice president and director of research for CFO Research Services, will present the key findings from this study. In addition, John O'Rourke, vice president of product marketing for Oracle, will share his perspective on the research findings and offer compelling examples of how organizations foster collaboration between finance and IT to ensure successful strategic planning.
